The commonest statement on the lips of most Teachers and Educational Workers in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region is simple: Ghana needs somebody like Bryan Acheampong as president one day.
It may interest you why this thought could cross the minds of members of the talk and chalk profession. Well, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Abetifi Constituency and Minister of State in charge of National Security, Hon. Bryan Acheampong has done what is unlikely to be done by most politicians in Ghana.
On Friday, 14th December, 2018, the Abetifi legislator treated over 1,600 teachers and educational workers within the Kwahu East District, to a number of surprises.
GES (Ghana Education Service) workers who had turned up for the Kwahu Pepease gathering purposely to have fun with only food and drinks, rather returned from the party with various other mind boggling packages unveiled by the Abetifi lawmaker and member of the executive.
Apart from awarding 27 teachers each with a cash prize of GHC 2,000 plus either a fridge or a flat-screen television, Mr. Acheampong unveiled a scholarship package for every teacher who has taught in the district for ten years and over.
As if all those were not enough, the former unsuccessful aspirant for the Suhum parliamentary seat, also announced a free voucher for every teacher to shop up to a GHC 300.00 worth of products at Melcom.
Mr. Acheampong who said his mother was a teacher, told the gathering of other surprises in the pipeline as from next year.
